Dr. McDermott graduated cum laude from Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and earned her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She then completed her family practice residency at Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina, serving as chief resident, and was named Outstanding Resident of the Year.
Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. McDermott is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association and the South Carolina Medical Association. She has more than 25 years of experience providing comprehensive family medical care as well as experience in occupational medicine. She served as medical director and chief medical officer for Michelin North America, headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, providing strategic and operational direction for the health, safety and well-being of Michelin employees in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Most recently, she provided direct patient care to employers through Proactive MD in Mauldin, South Carolina, and conducted urgent care video visits with Amwell telemedicine.
Dr. McDermott joins the board-certified physician and advanced practice providers at Lexington Medical Center Occupational Health to provide comprehensive workplace care from pre-placement assessments to workers’ compensation treatment.
